Andrea Maack – Icelandic niche perfumery from the visual artist of the same name, who has been bringing art, fashion and fragrance together since her first scent exhibition in 2010.

Jest is lush, boozy and playful – an evening with a glass of rum and a dessert you meant to share. Ripe plum, apple and cardamom open fruity and spicy, rum, chocolate and creamy heliotrope come together at the heart, before vanilla, ambroxan and musk settle into a warm, long-lasting base.

Jest works all year, but it is at its best in autumn and winter and in the evening. Gender-neutral and remarkably long-lasting – a gourmand signature scent for anyone in the mood for a treat.

What we like about Jest: it is sweet, but never sticky. Julien Rasquinet – known for The Moon by Frédéric Malle and Sequence by Amouage – keeps chocolate and rum moving with cardamom and apple, so the vanilla, the central raw material of this scent for Andrea Maack, feels luxurious rather than sugary.
