Saint Charles – apothecary care from Vienna

Saint Charles starts with a pharmacy: founded in Vienna in 1886, originally as the "Apotheke zur heiligen Dreifaltigkeit" (Pharmacy of the Holy Trinity), and located at Gumpendorfer Straße 30 in Mariahilf since the early 20th century. Pharmacist Alexander Ehrmann, the sixth generation of his family in the profession, gave it a new interior of historic pharmacy furniture, steel and glass – and, since 2006, the name Saint Charles. Together with co-founder and CEO Richard König he has turned it into a brand of its own, with skincare, teas, herbal essences and rituals.

At its heart is Traditional European Medicine – herbal medicine drawing on spagyrics, phytotherapy and gemmotherapy, under the motto "Right to the roots". Everything comes in amber glass, just as it would in the pharmacy. The solid Feste Apothekerseife is handmade by cold process with the Viennese manufacturer Wiener Seife, scented with lavender, eucalyptus, cinnamon and thyme. At SNUD you'll also find the liquid Apothekerseife for hands and for body and hair, the Apothekerspray, the Rising Heart bath salt, the Detox and Relax magnesium body scrubs, and Oxymel, a sour honey made from organic Weinviertel honey and apple cider vinegar.

We love that there is a real Viennese pharmacy behind Saint Charles, where you can still get herbs, tinctures and advice across the counter. The products smell of herb gardens and essential oils, feel honest and simply look good in the bathroom.
