Born in Saumur in 1954 and raised on his parents' market garden in Anjou, Christian Tortu is one of France's best-known florists. After training in Angers and years with Pierre Declercq in Paris, he opened his shop at the Carrefour de l'Odéon in the mid-1980s and changed how Paris looked at flowers: bouquets without paper, single-colour arrangements, fruit and vegetables among the blooms.

His floral worlds dressed the Cannes Film Festival and fashion shows for Chanel, Dior and Valentino, and studios in New York, Seoul, Hong Kong and Taipei followed. The same closeness to nature shaped his home and body line – scented candles, diffusers, room sprays, potpourri and liquid soap, made in France. At its heart is Forêts: pine, cedar, mint and labdanum, a walk through the woods after the rain.
