OJAR – Omani niche perfumery founded by Sheikha Hind Bahwan, named after Hojari frankincense from the Dhofar mountains and composed with leading master perfumers where East meets West.

Ciel d'Orage is smoky, woody and darkly spiced – like embers crackling somewhere in the distance. Artemisia and saffron open bitter-bright and alive, guaiac wood, pine, rose, patchouli and vetiver smoulder at the heart, before oud, suede, sandalwood and styrax settle into a velvety, resinous base.

Ciel d'Orage is at its best in autumn and winter, and in the evening. A unisex signature scent for anyone who loves smoke and wood – and for cool days when a fragrance is allowed to show depth.

What fascinates us about Ciel d'Orage is its balance. Oud sits at the centre, yet it never takes over: guaiac wood brings the crackle of embers, suede the softness, artemisia an almost green bitterness. An oud for people who aren't looking for an oud.
