Perfumers

Jérôme Epinette grew up in Burgundy, where his mother owned perfume shops – so he spent his childhood surrounded by fragrance. He studied biochemistry and then went to the Grasse Institute of Perfumery. In 2003 he joined Robertet and later moved to New York for the company, where he still lives and works. He is best known for his many fragrances for Byredo, and the Fragrance Foundation has honoured him twice. He says he is "obsessed with woods" – you'll find them in almost every composition, built cleanly with nothing superfluous.
