Oswald Haerdtl was an architect, teacher and a deeply sensitive designer. His spherical boxes in wafer-thin, mouth-blown muslin glass were first shown at the 1925 “Exposition des Arts Décoratifs” in Paris – and have been a classic ever since. As a bonbonnière for sweets, a box for jewellery or simply an object that catches the light, the lightness of the glass makes each one special.
Dimensions: ⌀ 11.8 cm, H 10.9 cm. Designed by Oswald Haerdtl, 1925.
Lobmeyr is a Viennese glass manufactory run by the same family for six generations. Every piece of muslin glass is mouth-blown into wet beechwood moulds, just 0.7 to 1.1 mm thin, and passes through at least 24 pairs of hands and four quality checks before it is sold – the last always by a family member.

Mouth-blown
Muslin glass, 0.7 to 1.1 mm thin
The glass is named after the light fabric muslin. It looks more fragile than it is: thanks to its inner elasticity it is surprisingly resilient. Because every piece is shaped by hand, each one is unique, with minimal irregularities.
Material: lead-free crystal glass (muslin glass)
Colour: crystal
Dimensions: ⌀ 11.8 cm, H 10.9 cm
Washing your Lobmeyr glasses by hand is much gentler and always preferable to the dishwasher. Use a little washing-up liquid and warm water, then rinse carefully so that no soap residue remains. Take particular care with the delicate muslin glass when drying.
As a rule, Lobmeyr glass is dishwasher-safe (glass programme!). However, glass contains very small amounts of water-soluble elements, so we recommend using as little detergent and rinse aid as possible to avoid damaging the glass surface. Please always open the dishwasher door once the drying cycle has finished so that hot residual water can escape as steam. If it stays on the glass in the warm, humid environment, it can cause irreversible clouding.
