Osmo – Extrait de Parfum

Andrea Maack – Icelandic niche perfumery from the visual artist of the same name, who has been bringing art, fashion and fragrance together since her first scent exhibition in 2010.

Osmo is salty, cool and clear – the North Atlantic, black sand and the basalt columns of Reynisfjara. Orange, a custom marine note and pink pepper open fresh and windswept, jasmine and iris give the heart a soft, almost creamy outline, before cedarwood, oakmoss and musk settle into a woody, earthy base.

Osmo works all year and above all by day – by the water in summer as much as on a clear winter morning. Gender-neutral and an understated signature scent.

Aquatic fragrances have a hard time with us, because so many smell like shower gel. Osmo is the opposite: Dominique Ropion – known for Portrait of a Lady and Carnal Flower by Frédéric Malle – rests the marine note on iris and oakmoss, and suddenly the sea smells not of holidays but of weather, rock and open space.
