PERNOIRE – a Swiss niche perfume label from Basel, founded in 2020 by childhood friends Nico Mannino and Robin Dünner and composed together with perfumer Andreas Wilhelm.

Poka smells amber-sweet with a warm, bakery-like core – a scent like freshly baked apple pie at a fall fair. Caramel popcorn, apple pie and cinnamon open it sweet and spiced, roasted hazelnut, labdanum and dried apricot come together at the heart into a warm, nutty picture, before vanilla, musk, tonka bean and cedarwood settle into a soft, amber base.

Poka works best in autumn and winter and suits day and evening alike. The unisex scent feels cosy and sweet without ever turning childish.

What makes Poka special to us is the caramel popcorn in its opening: an unusually concrete, almost edible image that makes the scent instantly recognisable, rather than disappearing into the usual vanilla-cinnamon crowd.
