Iris Poulsard – Millésime Parfum

Danner & Flemming is a Bavarian fragrance atelier built on an unusual promise: more iris than perfumery thought possible. Christian Danner cultivates the iris rhizomes on Bavarian fields, biologist Marcel Flemming refines them into extract and butter – and master perfumer Antoine Lie works them into a concentration he himself calls unprecedented. Iris Poulsard, named after a rare, ancient grape variety from France's Jura region, is the spiciest, most playful chapter of this trilogy.
Iris Poulsard smells spicy, fruity, and woody. Green mandarin and a raspberry accord open sparkling and fruity, before cinnamon absolute, cardamom, clove, and frankincense intertwine at the heart into a warm, almost oriental spice. Bavarian iris germanica – processed at roughly 41 times the usual concentration, the highest dose in the whole trilogy – meets cedarwood and patchouli at the base, revealing a side of iris you rarely get to smell.
Iris Poulsard works best in the colder months, in the evening – a unisex fragrance for anyone who loves complexity with a bit of unpredictability.
What makes this fragrance special to us: the fruity-spicy brilliance with which it uncovers iris's unseen facets – a fragrance that stays classic and still manages to surprise.
