Christian Danner cultivates the iris rhizomes on Bavarian fields, biologist Marcel Flemming refines them into extract and butter – and master perfumer Antoine Lie works them into a concentration he himself calls unprecedented. Iris Trousseau, named after an old French grape variety, is the softest, creamiest chapter of this trilogy.

Iris Trousseau smells powdery, creamy, and lightly nutty. Bergamot and cardamom open fresh and slightly spiced, before Bavarian iris germanica – processed at roughly 25 times the usual concentration – joins Piedmontese hazelnut extract and violet leaf absolute to form an unusually creamy, velvety core. Tonka bean absolute, sandalwood, cedarwood, and vetiver settle underneath as a soft, faintly sweet base.
